Message From The Defence Minister of Malaysia

Once again, the Ministry of Defence Malaysia (MINDEF) is pleased to lend its support to the 12th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA), from April 19 to 22, 2010, which will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The staging of DSA 2010 is most timely. Joint ventures and collaborations between world class OEMS and local defence & security industry players which are currently underway will pave the way forward and provide invaluable opportunities for the local defence and security manufacturing industries. This will also strengthen industrial ties towards creating economic growth for our future generations. One of the effective platforms through which MINDEF hopes to promote and enhance the industry, is through events such as DSA.

DSA 2010 is an excellent forum for members of the defence and security industries and government agencies to forge synergistic partnerships and enhance existing relationships, while keeping abreast of the industry’s advancements. At the same time, it is also in-line with our objectives of supporting the local defence and security industries. This biennial event has consistently and continuously showcased the latest in defence equipment and technology, weaponry, and groundbreaking advancements in security and safety.

With the emergence of modern defence and security technology and weaponry, comes the change in nature of security and warfare. As such, MINDEF is committed to continue with its plans to upgrade the capabilities of the Malaysian Armed Forces, as part of its efforts to keep the country abreast with the rapid changes and developments in the industry, and as a deterrent to both conventional and unconventional threats.

I wish the organiser every success for DSA 2010, and anticipate the forging of many new alliances and networking opportunities between participating members of the event.
