Minister of Home Affairs Malaysia

Y.B. Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein

With the evolving threats facing many nations today, modern defence and security forces must have state-of-the-art equipment to combat subversive elements which threaten peace, law and order. It is crucial that we continue to enhance defence and security technology capacity through the development of new operational concepts and technologies and train our forces to be on high alert.

International shows like the DSA 2012 exhibition play an invaluable role in the exchange of ideas and networking for defence and security purveyors and procurers alike, as well as provide hands-on demonstrations of the latest equipment and technology.

My congratulations to the organiser, DSA Exhibition and Conference Sdn Bhd, for having incorporated a section on Police and National Security since 2010 which has been well received and is expected to double in terms of exhibitors and exhibition area during DSA 2012.

In terms of internal security, where one of the Government's National Key Results Areas is to significantly reduce crime levels, a recent survey showed that Malaysians are less afraid of becoming victims of crime. This is due largely to higher police presence and an overall improvement in police rapport with the public. The latest know-how and information that we gain during DSA have also proven invaluable in our mission to combat crime in Malaysia.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is pleased to welcome all participants of DSA 2012 and we extend our best wishes for a successful event.
